This Silica Training Course is held face-to-face and can also be conducted in your workplace or at our training facility. The program is a classroom-based course outlining all the requirements that should be in place to manage Silica dust in the workplace and minimise the risks to workers’ health. Even, short-term exposure to Crystalline Silica dust can create a long-standing health hazard.

Participants will be able to identify and apply the following knowledge within the context of their job roles for their own safety and the safety of fellow workers and bystanders:

An appropriate level of language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills are required to enrol in this course. Tomaree Community College may conduct an LLN assessment as part of the pre-enrolment process.

  • Successfully complete a language, literacy and numeracy assessment. This course combines plain English, videos, photos, and verbal questioning to ensure all learners can have the best possible chance at comprehending the required knowledge and skills. Assessments MUST be completed in English and with no further assistance. If you believe you will need assistance due to your Language, Literacy or Numeracy skills, please contact our office to discuss your training needs prior to making any course booking. No refund of course fees will be paid due to failure to complete the course once it has commenced.
  • Students who are in Australia on a student visa (subclass 500) need to enrol with a CRICOS registered RTO.

USI unique Student Identifier number

The USI will be available online and at no cost to you. The USI will stay with you for life and be recorded with any nationally recognized VET course that is undertaken from 1st January 2015.

Why do I need a USI?

You may need to provide evidence of your academic achievements, for example when applying for a job or to undertake further study. Everyone undertaking nationally recognised VET courses will need to have a USI to receive their statement of attainment or qualification.

Provide original ID documents that add up to 100 points of ID in line with SafeWork NSW ID points table.

  • Within these documents, you must be able to show your photo ID, date of birth, signature, and current residential address. Other exceptions to the ID requirements are covered in the Evidence of Identity form if required.
  • Have physical capacity to demonstrate the correct donning and removing of PPE for assessment.

10830NAT Course in Crystalline Silica Exposure Prevention is a nationally recognised course. Training is delivered face-to-face over 4 hours.
