Session 1– Sewing Machine familiarisation, safety, threading, straight stitch (length & tension), bobbin winding & insertion, start, stop &
backstitch.
Make sampler of sewing stitches & Fabric Mug Cozy
Session 2 – Essential tools, fabrics, basic seams, cutting accurately, seam allowances, pressing
Make pin cushion
Session 3 – Tubes, turning & Elastics, sewing narrow tubes, turning inside out, inserting elastic
Make Scrunchie
Session 4 – Hems & Envelope Closures, double fold hems, topstitching
Make cushion cover/ pillow case
Session 5 – Casings & Drawer strings, cord channels,threading drawer strings, finishing openings
Make Lingerie bag
Session 6 – working with zippers, use of zipper foot, types of zips
Make zipper pouch
Session 7 – Button holes & Basic pattern interpretation, cut out sewing Machine mat from pattern & preliminary construction
Session 8 – Complete sewing Machine mat, including use of bias binding.
Completeion of this class will enable you to move into our Intermetiate class
