This single accredited online unit HLTINFCOV001 – Comply with infection prevention and control policies and procedures provides the skills and knowledge required to follow organisational infection prevention and control procedures. This is a high level health care unit which will allow skills to be used for any industry or workplace.
It includes information on how to:
– follow standard and additional precautions for infection prevention and control;
– identify infection hazards and assess risks, and
– follow procedures for managing risks associated with specific hazards.
Delivery Method: Online, with students being require to submit a video recording for assessment.
Skills must be demonstrated in the workplace with the addition of simulations and scenarios where the full range of contexts and situations have not been provided in the workplace or may occur only rarely.

The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian/New Zealand standards and industry codes of practice.

The USI will be available online and at no cost to you. The USI will stay with you for life and be recorded with any nationally recognised VET course that is undertaken from 1st January 2015.
Why do I need a USI?
You may need to provide evidence of your academic achievements, for example when applying for a job or to undertake further study.
Everyone undertaking nationally recognised VET courses will need to have a USI to receive their statement of attainment or qualification.
Your USI must be provided to Tomaree Community College before you can receive a statement of attainment or qualification. Tomaree Community College will not be allowed to issue your certificate unless we have your USI recorded.
